Dr Terry McIvor

Dr. Terry McIvor

CEO / Founder

Dr. McIvor is an academic professional who fosters innovative science and maths programs through national and international organizations. Terry earned a BSc (with honours) in Applied Biochemical Sciences with a Diploma in Industrial Studies from the University of Ulster in 1996. From there he pursued higher degrees in teaching and postsecondary education, culminating in PhDs in Chemistry and Chemical Education (Physical). Terry worked as a Curriculum Manager of Science & Mathematics at NWRC in Derry and he currently lectures in Physical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Physical Sciences, Nanochemistry, Mathematics and ICT. Terry has an extensive experience in curriculum development to degree level. Terry has written a number of science programmes in partnership with Ulster University and the Open College Network. He also participated in Erasmus and Erasmus+ programmes researching and developing vocational skills curriculum in Germany and India. ​ Terry is also a local entrepreneur who has set up successful educational training companies which focuses on vocational and skills training. Terry is passionate about teaching students through a number of teaching strategies including discussion groups, online seminars and webcasts. He has 20 years’ experience which involved supervising numerous projects both locally and internationally. Terry has recently published a paper in mathematical education with Queens University and the University of Maynooth. He is also the author of a book targeted toward both teachers and students entitled “The Development of Learning Strategies in Chemical Education." Terry has organised an international conference with Ulster University and co-ordinated the Salters Festival of Chemistry which was held at NWRC in 2015, the first college in the UK to ever host the festival and he also organised the International Conference Woman in STEM Conference, which was held at NWRC in 2016. He recently developed and led a team who were involved in launching a Maths Centre at NWRC, the first of its kind in Northern Ireland. Terry is also an International Workshop facilitator and he represents Ireland in the Albert Schweitzer Society and is a visiting professor and scholar to schools in Costa Rica and India. He is also a Fellow of the American Institute of Chemists (AIC) and a professional member of the British Computer Society. Terry is part of the review panel of AIC for conferring chartered chemist status to successful candidates through the credentialing system administered by the National Certification Commission in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering (NCCCCE). He is also a member of the Biochemical Society, part of the panel for science education and an adviser for science education policy within the Biochemical Society. Terry is also a Vice President of Chartered Institute of Management and Leadership. Terry was instrumental in pioneering the NWRC’s strategy to establish a “Science Applied Research Centre” as part of the Department for Employment and Learning’s FE Strategy for centres of specialism, this project assisted in building of an applied research portfolio in this area. Dr. Terence McIvor is a leader in the development of teaching and learning strategies. He is also a Professor of Bio Physical Chemistry at Afriford University and a Professor of Chemical Education and Faculty Dean at Universidad San Juan De La Cruz..

Kieran possesses over nineteen years experience working in a variety of managerial roles in the Sports, Fitness and Coaching, Hospitality, Retail, Health and IT industries. These roles have included, Health Club Manager; Team Manager; Business Manager; Health Promotion Manager; Active Lifestyle Development Officer. Kieran works as a consultant in education and the sport, health and fitness sector advising local government and the private sector in relation to service quality improvement. Additionally, Kieran is involved in developing local health promotion strategies. His management experience extends to working across the private, public and voluntary sectors.

In his role as a Lecturer and Education Consultant, in Further and Higher education, Kieran has developed modules for degree programmes as well as coordinating courses. As a technology champion, Kieran has been responsible for developing and encouraging methodologies that enhance the quality of teaching within Further and Higher Education. These projects involved the transition from traditional teaching towards blended learning and from blended learning strategies towards synchronous on-line teaching. In his role as a mentor and trainer for teachers and lecturers, Kieran promotes a collaborative environment in which peer review of teaching resources and pedagogical approaches amongst tutors is evident e.g. with the facilitation of a 'best practice'. Kieran is currently involved in researching how mobile learning can be designed and integrated into further and higher education to facilitate a personalised programme of study, as part of his Doctoral studies. Additionally he is also involved in ERASMUS research related to inclusion and differentiation in schools'. Kieran is a Senior Fellow at the Higher Education Academy and holds Professional Membership at The British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences

Sammie Ruona Edigbe, CMC, FIMC, FCFIP, FDM, BSc, MSc, PGD, Ph.D, is a management, educational and financial consultant who specializes in organizational development and training for professional people and their organizations. Ruona provides guidance, advice and facilitation in all aspects of organizational development, from strategy formulation to change management. He focuses on the design and delivery of management and leadership development programmes. He has immense working experience in research, academics, oil and gas and corporate management, etc. He has many years of experience in helping managers in professional services; organizations get the best from their people. He has trained managers from the private and public sectors from around Nigeria. Professionally, he holds a practicing licence of Certified Management Consultant (CMC), Certified Forensic Investigation Professional (CFIP), and a fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants (FIMC), Nigeria, a fellow and council member of the Institute of Direct Marketing of Nigeria (IDMN) and also a fellow of the International Institute of Certified Forensic Investigation Professionals, USA. He holds a Ph.D in Strategic Management from Charisma University, Turks and Caicos Islands, British West Indices, a Master of Science (MSc) in ‘Strategic Management’ from St. Monica University, Buea, Cameroon, a Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in ‘Brand Management’ from African Marketing Business School (AMBS), Lagos, Nigeria and finally a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Economics from Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Nigeria. He is widely travelled, attended and presented academic papers in various conferences around the world. He has also been consulting for many universities and academic institutions across the globe for their academic processes and international collaborations. Sammie Ruona Edigbe is currently the Director of Academic and Institutional Affairs of Academy for International Science and Research, UK (Nigerian Campus), the Rector/CEO of Saint Monica Business School and the Principal Consultant/CEO of Premium Real Consulting both in Nigeria and a Director to a host of other organzations.

Rohan attained his BSC in IT, S.M at Shetty College UNIVERSITY OF MUMBAI. He gained his qualifications in Cisco Certified Network Associate Routing & Switching (CCNA) and also in CCNP Routing. Rohan's technical skills include Java, SQL, Python, PHP, HTML, C and C++. He holds additional skills such as VMware desktop and application virtualization; Knowledge of Ethical hacking and Networking: Wireshark/TCP view packet analysis, DNS server, mail server. Rohan is enthusiastic, dedicated to excel and be the best in the tech industry.

Dr. Vinanti Cherian-McIvor

Consultant of Medical/Biomedical Innovation

Dr Cherian - McIvor has attained her initial qualification in the field of medicine and Anaesthesia from India. She then moved to the UK for further experience and worked in different hospitals across Ireland. She passed the Fellowship exam from the College of Anaesthetist, FCARCSI and was appointed as a Consultant Anaesthetist in 2009 and she currently works in Altnagelvin Hospital, Londonderry, a multispecialty hospital. Dr Cherian - McIvor has been involved in research projects during her training in Northern Ireland including study on remifentanil for labour analgesia and she has a keen interest in Obstetric Anaesthesia and is currently Lead Anaesthetist for obstetrics in the Department. She takes active interest in patient safety and quality improvement projects and is currently the clinical governance lead for Anaesthesia at Altnagelvin Hospital. Dr Cherian - McIvor has been involved in high quality audit projects and has also been local lead investigator for 2 national Audit projects within her department. She has presented posters at national and international meetings and has also been an invited speaker at the Western Association of Anaesthetists meeting. She has been an instructor on the Advanced Trauma Life support course and she is currently involved in multidisciplinary simulation based teaching in obstetrics and updating the departmental guidelines for obsteric anaesthesia.

Dr Dan Corbett graduated from Queen's University with a First Class Honours degree in Pharmacy in 2010, subsequently completing his pre-registration training at McMullan's Pharmacy in Belfast. After registering as a Pharmacist in 2011, Dr Corbett returned to the School of Pharmacy to complete a PhD in Biomaterials Chemistry, under the supervision of Professor Colin McCoy, within the Pharmaceutical Science and Practice cluster. Since completing his doctorate, Dr Corbett took responsibility for student recruitment at the School from 2014-2015, whilst also carrying out a number of teaching responsibilities. Dr Corbett is Lecturer (Education) in Pharmaceutical Sciences, with a majorty of his teaching taking place at the China Medical University-Queen's University Belfast Joint College (known as CQC), located in Shenyang, People's Republic of China. Dr Corbett's current research interests lie in the development of polymer-based medical products which exhibit properties such as infection resistance, enhanced biocompatibility, and drug delivery. In addition to these roles, Dr Corbett authors articles for a number of publications, and works for the Northern Ireland professional pharmacy regulator.

Anna has an extensive work experience in the field of management of both the Spa and Hospitality industry. Anna earned a BTEC HNC in Business from North West Regional College (NWRC) in 2010, a Bsc (Hons) in Business from the University of Ulster in 2013, a Diploma in Environmental Waste Management from Stonebridge Associated Colleges in 2014 and she became a certified Yoga teacher through World Yoga Alliance in 2015. She is currently doing a Diploma in Subtle Energy Practitioner (crystal and energy healing). Anna has worked in the Spa industry for 10 years. She gained her Hand and Foot Care, Nail Technician qualification from the Hungarian Beauty Trade Association in 2000. For years, she has worked on a five star luxury cruise ship delivering exceptional customer care and service to Spa guests, assisting in the management of the day to day operations and preparing promotional activities. She has also worked in the Hospitality industry both the Back and Front of House for 8 years, delivering high quality service, supervising the day to day activities of the Housekeeping department of a 4 star Hotel. By utalising the knowledge gained from the Business degree subjects such as International Human Resource Management, Marketing, Change Management etc. she became a versatile, successful and efficient Supervisor. Anna completed various Hospitality courses such as Customer Service, Food Hygiene, Service with Passion, Health and Safety and a Level 2 Award in Leadership and Team Skills. She achieved consistent high mystery shop results of 93%+; assisted and participated in various events and projects to achieve green tourism gold award for 3 consecutive years and she also supervised waste management in the Housekeeping department to contribute in achieving the zero waste to landfill award.
